Faster computations, part 1: A cloud of point-masses

This is the first text of a planned series on more efficient, faster scientific computing. I am introducing a simple physics calculation, which will feature as a reappearing example and central theme in a number of subsequent texts. Within the scope of this article, the model physics, which shall be implemented, is analysed. Based on the results of the analysis, a skeleton structure for a potential computer simulation is being proposed and ultimately optimized.
